Amboli Waterfall
Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Maharashtra, Amboli Waterfall stands as a testament to the state’s natural beauty. The way up is easily motorable. There are quite a few places in and around Amboli that one can visit. All of these are pretty close by and would not take more than a day to visit all of them. Mornings and evenings are punctuated by large calls of jungle fowl while Langoor and macaques chatter in the treetops. Amboli’s landscape provides a good backdrop for the frames of a trigger happy photographer. It is also a trekker’s delight. Its enchanting wooded slopes and paths with carpets of moss are excellent for a leisurely stroll. Hiranyakeshi Temple is 5 km from the main bus stand of Amboli. It is here that the Hiranyakeshi river originates. There is a temple that is built around the caves from where the waters flow down to form the Hiranyakeshi river. Niagara Falls, located on SH 121 at a distance of 10 km from the main bus stand of Amboli, is a narrow ravine into which the water flows from a height of over 40 feet. During the monsoons, the heavy pour of water makes a hell of a noise that’s not easy to miss. There is a bridge and a viewpoint that have been constructed near the falls from where one can enjoy the beauty of the falls. Kavalshet Point is at a distance of 11 km from the main bus stand of Amboli, which provides some breathtaking valley views. One can also find many small waterfalls from the view point during the monsoon. Try shouting your name and the valley will throw it back to you.

Sunset Point is located on the highway toward Sawantwadi: Explore the quaint town of Sawantwadi known for its traditional art and culture, located just 30 kilometers away from Amboli. Shirgaonkar Point is located at a distance of 3km from the main bus stand of Amboli. Amboli is an excellent place for trekking. It has a number of trails with different degrees of difficulty. However, beware of leeches; the trails are teeming with them! Even if you are not a serious trekker, Amboli has some lovely walks, which can be easily managed. The walks from the main road to any of the view-points like Shirgaonkar Point, Mahadevgad Point are beautiful, with green vegetation on both sides and streams gurgling away. It is an eco-friendly hill station that promises you an experience to get lost into the spectacular beauty of nature, nurturing the poet in you.
