A. The prescribed authority is the Animal Welfare Board of India, established by the Central Government. This Board has been established for the promotion of animal welfare and for protecting them from being subjected to unnecessary pain or suffering.

Section 4 of the Performing Animals Rules, 1973 which deals with fee and registration, says that every application for registration shall be accompanied by a fee of rupees twenty-five which can be either paid in cash or in such other manner as may be specified by the prescribed authority. This fee has been amended as per Performing Animals (Registration) Rules, 2001.
Section 7 of the Performing Animals Rules, 1973 says that anyone who is interested in inspecting the register can do so during office hours on any working day upon payment of a fee of two rupees.
