The present book deals with all the basic concepts of the Employees' State Insurance keeping in mind the general queries of the public at large. The authors in this work seek to provide elementary knowledge and guidance to the employees in general and to employers in particular. The book is divided into eight chapters covering each and every aspect of abovestated subject. The first chapter of the book covers introduction and definitions. In the second chapter the author has comprehensively defined the term 'employee'. The author in the third chapter has lucidly covered topics like contribution, calculation, wages, interest and damages by giving various details and illustrations on the topic. The Fourth chapter speaks about the obligations of employees under the Act and Rules & Regulations. Fifth chapter deals with punishment and punitive action. In order to make this book more informative and relevant, the author under Chapter six has incorporated the ratio of decisions of the Supreme Court and High Court besides amendment made to the Act, Rules and Regulations. In addition, under chapters seven and eight, a Referencer is also given to clarify the disputed and doubtful aspects of day-to-day use, which are supported with judicial interpretations.

As such, the learned author has brought different Sections, in the book together to facilitate the reader to grasp the subject easily. The endeavour behind this book is to serve the purposes of all those who are deeply interested in this branch of jurisprudence.
