Published by: Universal Law Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi - India
This is a comprehensive book on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 and Rules 2007. The provisions of the Act and the Rules have been analysed by a team of dedicated researches and have been stated in a simplified manner. The organisation, duties and responsibilities of different stakeholders in the Act have been analysed separately so that each stakeholder can equip himself or herself with that part of the law which is relevant for him or her. Charts have also been included in the book to make the subject more simplified and user friendly. The contents of this book are divided into eleven chapters. Chapter one contains an overview of the juvenile justice system in India by the Chief Justice of India, KG Balakrishnan. Second chapter contains the fundamental principles like principle of presumption of innocence, principle of best interest, principle of right to privacy and confidentiality, etc. Chapters three and four contain the relevant provisions related to police and probation officers respectively. Provisions related to juvenile justice board and the institutions are explained in detail in chapters five and six respectively. The other provisions about State Government, NGOs and social worker, legal services authority and advocates, rehabilitation and social reintegration are contained in the remaining chapters. This book would be useful not only for the stakeholders but also for the juvenile and their parents.
