PLANK POSE .

Benefits:

  • Good for toning the abdomen;
  • Arms, legs and spine get stretched;
  • Wrists become stronger.

Procedure: Start with assuming the Adhomukha Svanasana (downward facing dog). Inhale and bring your chest forward closer to the floor. Straighten your arms so that they are perpendicular to the ground. Your shoulder and wrist should be in one straight line. Make the upper part of the body parallel to the floor. Lift your heels off the ground. Press your palms and toes firmly on the floor. Spread your shoulders and collar bones. Press your upper thighs up towards the ceiling. Straighten your neck and face downwards. Gaze down at the floor. Do not strain your throat. Hold this pose for about 30 seconds.

Caution: People with neck injury should avoid this pose.

APRICOTS

Apricots ( Prunus armeniaca) are beautiful orange colour fruits full of beta-carotene and fibre. The sweet Apricot fruit is blended with Vitamin C and other nutrients. Also the seed of the fruit is extracted to make oil which is used for cooking purpose. There are numerous health benefits of apricot fruit because of its various antioxidant properties. Apricot can be eaten in both dry and fresh forms. If one is suffering from constipation for a long time, then having apricots on a daily basis can be very beneficial.  Apricot also helps in clearing the acidity problem and the digestion problem. It helps in increasing haemoglobin which is essential for blood. Apricot is high in calcium and iron which is essential for pregnant women and young adults. Apricot is highly recommended for eyes because it contains Vitamin A which helps in improving vision of the person. Apricot also contains beta-carotene and lycopene which controls cholesterol.

Recipe of the Month

Apricot Jam Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams Apricots
  • 1/2 teaspoon citric acid
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 drop of yellow colour
  • 1 drop of orange colour

Method: Cook apricots with water till tender and till half-a-cup of water is left. Pass through a sieve. To the pulp add sugar and cook till sugar is dissolved. Add citric acid and cook further till setting point is reached. Add colours and cook it for one minute. Pour into a jar and seal when cool.

Bhushi Dam is definitely one of the most exciting sites to visit in Lonavala. This dam has a beautiful waterfall in the vicinity, which is a must see. The surrounding area of the dam has been developed into a beautiful catchment area for tourists to enjoy. Lonavala is not only famous for its beauty but also for the eatables. In Lonavala the Chikkis and Jams are very famous. Lonavala is also known for its Namkeen Snacks like : Chiwda, Wafers, various types of Sevs, etc. Cool climate, serene ambience and all facilities for secluded stay are the great offers of this natural gift.
