O.P. Jindal Global University is a non-profit university established by the Haryana Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2009 at Sonipat, Haryana (NCR of Delhi). JGU and JGLS are recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The University Grants Commission (UGC) has notified JGU as a private university established by the state legislature of Haryana. Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), India 's first global law school is situated on a 54-acre state of the art residential JGU campus. The vision of JGU is to promote global programmes, global curriculum, global research, global collaborations, and global interaction through a global faculty. In the academic year 2010-11, JGLS offers a five year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme; and a three year LL.B. programme. JGLS is also offering a specially designed two year LL.M. programme with three options for specialisation for law graduates, corporate lawyers, legal practitioners, civil servants, diplomats and judges. The classes for the LL.M. programme will be held during late evenings and weekends.

Curriculum and Pedagogy

JGLS is committed to providing global legal education to its students. To fulfil this objective, the curriculum and teaching pedagogy is designed to give extensive exposure to students to domestic, international and comparative law courses. Students at JGLS study compulsory courses and choose from an unparalleled array of elective courses. In addition to courses on substantive and procedural law, students will gain lawyering skills through practical training papers and clinical legal programmes. JGLS will inculcate sound research and writing skills among students by requiring them to write research papers and participate in the Research Centres.

International Collaborations

International educational collaborations and partnerships are essential to promote the global nature of JGLS. JGLS has developed international collaborations with Harvard Law School , Yale Law School , New York University School of Law, Indiana University School of Law, Sydney Law School , King's College London, University College , Oxford , United Nations University and several other reputed law schools and universities worldwide. These collaborations promote faculty exchange, student exchange, joint teaching, joint research and other initiatives, including conferences and workshops with JGLS.

Career Development and Placement Division

JGLS has established a Career Development and Placement Division with a view to providing career opportunities to students and graduates of JGLS. JGLS has signed Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) with five reputed Indian law firms, Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co, AZB & Partners, FoxMandal Little, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices, Nishith Desai Associates and Khaitan & Co. to develop knowledge based partnerships and interaction with law firms and to facilitate internships and placements for JGLS students and graduates.

Faculty and Administration

The international educational background and experience of JGLS faculty members augurs well for the inter-disciplinary approach towards legal education. The faculty members have educational qualifications from reputed law schools of the world including Harvard Law School , Yale Law School , Stanford Law School , Columbia Law School , University of Oxford and University of Cambridge . The global orientation of the faculty members to contribute to teaching and research is the unique characteristic of JGLS.
