The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences was established under the WBNUJS Act, 1999 (West Bengal Act IX of 1999) adopted by the West Bengal Legislature in July 1999. The University was notified under clause (f) of section 2 of the UGC Act, 1956 in August 2004 and has been granted permanent affiliation by the Bar Council of India in July 2005. The WB National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) is one of the premiere national law schools of India. It has constantly been ranked as one of the top law schools of India. The School has produced outstanding lawyers and legal scholarship. The School has a very rich faculty, with diverse backgrounds, drawn from almost all corners of India. NUJS faculty has been trained in top universities in India and abroad and has been constantly involved in delivering quality teaching and research. The faculty members have made a name for themselves, in their respective fields, by publishing research in reputed journals in India and abroad and with renowned publishing houses and are playing a key role in pushing the frontiers of legal knowledge and expertise. NUJS has also attracted leading academicians, as visiting faculties, from top universities such as University of Sydney, University of London, National University of Singapore, Freiburg University and others.

1. Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of :
(a) Forty-five percent (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/(Specially abled persons) categories; and
(b) Forty percent (40%) marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category.
2. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2016 are also eligible for appearing in CLAT-2016 examination.
However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
1. LL.B. or equivalent degree in law examination with a minimum of 55% marks in case of Unreserved/OBC/(Specially abled persons) categories and 50% marks in case of SC/ST category.
2. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2016 are also eligible for appearing in CLAT-2016 examination.
However they shall be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination in the respective National Law Universities at the time of admission failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
The candidate shall have Masters Degree of any recognized University, with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). However, this condition is relaxed to 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC and ST. Entrance Test : Admission to
M. Phil. shall be through an Entrance Test and Interview. Applications for Entrance Test shall be invited once a year in the month of July, depending on the vacancies existing in each specialized area.
The candidate shall have Masters Degree of any University recognized by UGC or an equivalent Masters Degree of foreign University, with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). However, this condition is relaxed to 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC and ST.
The candidate shall have Ph.D. Degree in Law of any recognized University. The candidate must have published as the main author a minimum of ten articles in the peer reviewed/refereed journals having ISSN number or books of repute with ISBN number after the completion of Ph.D.
The Library occupies a central location measuring 1500 sq. m. and provides seating for approximately 300 users. The open access system followed in the Library allows unlimited access not only to the students, but also to research scholars from different parts of the country. The Library collection has over 20,000 titles exclusive of titles donated by renowned personalities and organizations. The l ibrary also subscribes e-books and e-journals. The Library subscribes to approximately 124 print journals, including foreign publications, which cover a wide range of legal as well as other related subjects. The Library has the archives of the complete sets of the most prestigious journals in the field of law. Adequate provision is made for general reading, newspapers and magazines. The University Central Library occupies a central location commanding a spectacular view of the quadrangle and hostels.
Currently the Library subscribes to 124 journals including top-notch international publications - Journal of World Trade, American Journal of International Law, International Legal Materials, Economist and Time, to name a few.
