Memoirs - Events - Views and Expressions

Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer - The senior-most judge of the Supreme Court. I had a chance to attend his Lecture in early eighties in the Conference Hall of the Indian Society of International Law, then at Scindia House, Connaught Place. Even at the age of ninety-nine plus, in spite of his poor health and eye-sight, he was still active in writing articles and books. I am proud of my company, Universal, for having published over a dozen books by Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer.

I am reproducing hereunder Justice Iyer's letter dated 28 th April, 2014 addressed to my son Dr. Manish Arora which reflects his views about our relations.

"I have published well over 100 books by several publishers. But you are my best publisher. Why"

Because the relationship between author and publisher is at its best when the publisher understands the inner meaning of the author and takes care to publish promptly and circulate to sections of people who are likely to be concerned about the author's faculty and the relationship he commands with encouragement and appropriate association and a correction connected to the author.

Of course, that publisher is good who knows the concerned readership in such manner as will best promote not only publicity but also public interest.

Judged by these standards you are a great publisher whose service to me to get my ideas across to the most knowledgeable section which can benefit from the author's innovative ideas if any. The thought processes of the author if any must stimulate and fertilise the mind and alert sector of the community at large."

Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer fought for justice till his last breath on 4 th December, 2014 by touching the Centenary of his age. (Refer. page no. 15 of the book)
