A Memorandum of Understanding between the Indian Law Institute (ILI), a deemed university in New Delhi and Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) has been signed by Prof. S. Sivakumar, Director in charge, ILI, and Prof. Claude Bruderlein of Harvard University.
The MoU is aimed at facilitating collaboration on research, policy development, teaching and professional development on International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law in India.
The ILI-HSPH collaboration may lead to creation over the coming years of a Centre of Excellence on International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law based at ILI, New Delhi, said Prof. Sivakumar.
The MoU was signed in the Supreme Court in the presence of Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, who is the President of ILI, and Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar, the Vice-President of ILI.
Both the CJI and the Union Law Minister described the signing of the MoU as remarkable and said the joint venture with Harvard University would benefit both institutions and the stakeholders to grow professionally and academically.
